NEW YEAR WORD SEARCH

A New Year word search to play online or print for a party, a classroom, or the long stretch of an evening before midnight. Choose a level, find everything in the grid, and press print for a paper copy with an answer key.

This one works well as a party sheet because the easy level is genuinely easy — year, clock, cake, music, twelve. Nobody has to concentrate hard, which is the point when it is being passed around a room. Every word shows its meaning the moment it is found.

The harder level is a different evening entirely: RESOLUTION, COUNTDOWN, CHAMPAGNE, JUBILANT. Fourteen of those in a 13×13 grid, on the clock, is a real puzzle rather than a warm-up.

HOW TO PLAY

• Tap the first letter, then the last letter. No dragging, which matters on a phone where dragging a diagonal across small letters is inaccurate.
• Across, down or diagonally — never backwards, at either level.
• Either order works. Tapping the last letter first is fine; it's the line that counts.
